Planning on 3 months in Central/South America - Which countries have the most difficult to understand dialects?
I've set aside >$10000 for travel to Spanish speaking countries, studied a fair amount of spanish (enough to get across any idea I want to, though not enough to understand a speedy conversation) with Spanish taught by a native Mexican.
When I go, I want to be able to get by on my own Spanish as much as possible. Given that my Spanish is most similar to that of somebody from Mexico, where will I have the easiest time understanding dialects? I've heard that Chilean Spanish is particularly "different," but other than that I don't know much.
Thanks!
