Karachi for 2 months! But need some help re food
Hi everyone - I'll be traveling to Karachi, Pakistan for 2 months by myself to teach a class at a uni. I'm very excited but I have a concern. My in-laws, who are from Pakistan, have warned me many times not to eat vegetables there because of concerns about bacteria, etc. I have been to Katachi once before and was told the same thing by everyone I visited there. This meant I ate (and was served) only meat and bread, basically. My first visit was for only 2 weeks, and for only that short amount of time, that diet was rough!
My question is, what to do about getting some veggies into my diet during my time in Karachi. I've asked the in-laws about getting veggies there and washing them myself in bottled water. They said I could but they still think it's too risky. Maybe they're being overly protective but I also don't want to be running to the bathroom when I should be teaching class or checking out the sites.
I'd love to hear any thoughts or suggestions on what to do. And if you have any recommended places to go or things to see in Karachi, let me know!
Thanks!
