From Calgary to LA/San Diego. Any advice?
Hi everyone,
I'm planning a roadtrip from Calgary to southern California together with a friend next July/August. We have four weeks in total. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for us and can answer a couple of questions.
Our route isn't fixed but I'd like to visit the following destinations: Calgary - Banff - Vancouver (Drop rental car there) - Seattle (Rent Car there) - Portland - San Francisco - Taking the 101 along the coast to LA
1) I'd like to go camping in some national parks. Do you have any reccomendations? 2) What spots are a must to visit? 3) We are two European guys (Swiss). Is ist easy to cross the border between Canada/the U.S.? 4) As we're both students, any tips on how to save money are welcomed:) 5) Are four weeks enough? I prefer not do drive too many hours per day and visit more the surrounding areas instead. 6) Last but most important question: Is it much more worth to skip the 101/Big Sur between San Francisco and L.A. and heading for Yosemite National Park/Las Vegas/Zion National Park/Gran Canyion instead after San Francisco and then returning from there to LA? This is a huge trade off for me. Any solutions?
Thanks in advance for any advice:)
