6 week trip to Peru/Ecuador in June. Insight on itinerary welcome!
I plan on going solo to south america for 6 weeks around June. 22f if it matters!
I went two springs ago to Chile (study abroad) and also saw Argentina and Peru. I was sad to miss Ecuador when I was there, so my main goal is to see Ecuador, but I'm also wanting to see parts of Peru that I missed last time.
Here is my rough itinerary:
Fly into Guyaquil
Montanita for 2 days
Another beach town for a week to take spannish lessons (advice on favorite beach towns??)
Quito for 3 days
Quillotoa loop & Cotopaxi (meeting up with a friend for this - 1 week)
Banos- 3 days
Then I start bussing south to Peru Planning on stopping in
Cuenca - 2 days
Mancora - 1 day maybe
Trujillo - 1 day
Huaraz - 5 or so days (so excited for this! Any tips? especially on if that's enough time if I'm nervous about altitude sickness?)
Lima & other Peru things - 2 weeks
Fly back to the states out of Lima
In Lima, I plan to meet up with my friend who is from there and stay with her family for 3 days then it's up in the air. When I went to Peru two years ago I saw Machu Picchu, lake Titicaca, Cusco, and Arequipa, so I'm not very interested in going back to any of those places. I'd rather see something new! Is there anything big I'm missing from either country? Or must-dos/sees/stays/eats in the places I am going?
Budget wise: I'm hoping to spend 3000-3500 including flights. Is this doable? and any tips on getting cheap flights- specifically in south america? I'd love any advice!
