Starting my solo ancestral trek. First in my family to return to the "motherlands". Standing in Wicklow Mountains, a few km from where we lived until the 1860s.
Thanks to this subreddit for all the advice people have posted about Ireland (and all the other places I'll be heading). Couldn't have done it without you!
So excited to return to Canada and show my grandparents photos of the places they've researched for years. Also can't get over how "easy" this trip was - wish my grandparents and great-grandparents had taken the chance and done it themselves. Wicklow is literally beside Dublin.
But that's the point of this reddit. If they won't do it with you, do it yourself!
