Last day of my 2 months Europe trip.
It’s my last day of a 9 week trip in Europe and I can say it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. Visited 17 cities of which 5 of them were spontaneous. Checked many things of my bucket list, made really awesome friends along the way and gained so much experiences. Just wanted to list a couple of stuff to share with you guys.
What I learnt about myself: * I’m an ambivert. I enjoy socialising and making new friends but at the same time also feel really recharged spending time alone. * Asians, being raised conservatively in general, most don’t have the courage to travel solo. I’m glad I broke out of that. * Bravery is a skill not a trait. Like any skill, you get better at it through practice. Comparing myself now and the start of this trip, I’d say I’ve become more courageous and confident. * My travel style, I love sightseeing in the day alone. I can do whatever I want at my own pace like watching buskers perform for hours. In the evenings, make friends and grab a couple of drinks.
Favourite cities: 1. Prague 2. Amsterdam 3. Florence
Favourite hostels: 1. Hostel Ruthensteiner Vienna 2. Pink Panther Hostel Krakow 3. 5 Terre Backpackers Cinque Terre
Some of my favourite experiences: 1. Did the 193m Europabrucke bungy in Innsbruck. 2. Walking around Prague at night with my earphones on, blocking out the surroundings and listening to my favourite tunes while enjoying the orange-lit streets in the moonlight. 3. Just having great conversations over a couple of beers in the Hostel bar.
Tips: * Take loads of pictures. Photographs last longer than your memory. Looking back at the ones I took brings back that vivid image in my mind. * Best thing about travelling solo is that you do everything at your own pace. Don’t feel bad even if you just want to spend the whole day in your bed. * Stop worrying about crime. Before I started on my journey, I was anxious because of all the articles I’ve read about the pickpocketing in Europe. Nothing happened in my 2 months here. Just have common sense and be aware of your surroundings.
Just wanna thank this community that inspired me to make this trip happen. Not a seasoned traveller but AMA if you have any questions! Cheers
