Is bartending a good skill to pick up if I want to keep travelling?
Okay, so I didn't know how to word the title well.
Basically, I'm fascinated by these people I've met on my trips that have been on the road for 1+ years with no plans of stopping. Usually it's in a social hostel setting I meet them - meaning I haven't had the chance to properly sit down with anyone to ask HOW (and if I ask, I usually get vague "I work along the way sometimes" answers) they do it.
I've always dreamed of travelling, and I'm currently ~7 weeks into my first solo trip that's going to go on until December-ish. It depresses me to no end that I'll have to go home in two months. I've been thinking about what I can do when I get home, in order to be able to travel more (these savings are going to be out when I get back and it's probably going to take years before I can go again) and I'm thinking maybe bartending?
With bartending, I can get tips (I have the perk of being a reasonably attractive young woman) if I'm doing well which definitely helps. I could also work abroad and in hostels and stuff to get that travel feel even when I'm not actively travelling.
I don't know. Does anyone have experience with this? I have worked as a waitress at home and am fairly good at it, but in Sweden we don't really get tips so the pay is kind of bad.
