Ireland in October

Hello lovely people of reddit! I am planning on maybe visiting Ireland in the second half of October (yes, I know, we're almost there and I'm not a very organised planner of things). I was thinking of visiting some parts of Northern Ireland, including Belfast because I've got a friend there, as well as Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. I would also love to go to Donegal, including a visit to the Slieve League Cliffs which seem very impressive.

Now, my question is: is it actually a good idea to visit during the colder months? Are most tourist attractions going to be open still? If I happen to come across an attraction I'd like to visit, what are the chances it's going to be closed because it's no longer high season? And also, about the weather: does it get very cold already around late October? I'm not that bothered by rain, and I know that the weather in Ireland is very changing all the time anyways.

I'm basically just wondering if I should take this trip in Spring rather than now. Oh and if the answer is yes, I should visit in late October, I would be very grateful for any tips and/or recommendations you might have!

Another important detail: I won't have a car, and I cannot rent one. This makes me entirely relient on public transport, which isn't really a concern of mine because I used it when I was in Ireland last June and it was fine.

Anyway, I hope I didn't ramble too much, and again, any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
