Going on a solo ~6 month adventure in South America, need some tips!

Hi guys,

So in late November I’m setting off to South America. I have somewhat of a structure, starting first on a family holiday in Chile, and then going up to Arequipa in Peru to visit a friend who lives there.

However, after this my plans are less solid - from February onwards I plan to continue exploring Peru, and then on into Ecuador.

I would really appreciate a) any tips for solo travel in these two countries, and b) any recommendations for absolute must-visits in your opinion!

So far I am thinking of Nazca lines, Iquitos, Quito, the valley around Baños, but need more!

(I have already done the Sacred Valley sights like Machu Picchu, Cusco etc.)
