First trip alone, New York City for five days
Never travelled alone before (not been out of the UK since I was 18), but my 25th birthday is next month and instead of doing the same old, same old, I thought I'd a) treat myself and b) get out of my comfort zone. So I'm going to New York from 4th November to the 9th, on my own, and I'm making the most of it.
I've got tickets to a Knicks game and a Rangers game, I've bought a CityPass and I'm planning on doing all the touristy things (Empire State, Top of the Rock, Central Park etc). I love a lot of US TV so I'm going to be on the lookout for spots seen in shows like Seinfeld, Mad Men, Friends etc. I'm also planning on visits to Brooklyn, Greenwich, Harlem.. just got to figure out how I'm going to fit all of this in!
I'm a huge music fan so I want to see some good rock clubs, record stores... maybe find a nice comedy club in the evenings (I don't know if my anxiety will cope with being on my own in a New York bar AND being singled out by a comedian, but I'll give it a go and hope I'm not picked on!)
So, to people who know New York, where should I be going, what should I be doing, what should I look out for and be wary of..? All advice is welcome. Thank you.
