What am I missing in Verona?
I'm on my honeymoon in Italy and the last couple of nights have been in Verona.
Had a really nice time in Milan (unexpected) found great wine, a pretty cathedral and unrivalled clothes shopping topped by a spectacular visit to the opera.
Then to Parma where people were endlessly welcoming and there were so many beautiful and interesting things to see that we just stumbled upon as well as the incredible food and lively bars.
Now I'm in Verona and I hate it so far. It's so busy, the supposedly pretty squares are mobbed and full of people selling tacky souvenirs, public transport is unfathomable and I've yet to meet a friendly person.
I live in Edinburgh, so I do understand impatience with tourist and by my being here I may well be part of the problem, but I just don't understand why so many guides (including advice given on Reddit) say this city is unmissable.
