Questions on Zion in late November
Hi r/travel,
First of all, a huge thank you to everyone that posts on this sub. With the wealth of info here, my wife and I have decided to spend our 10-yr anniversary in Zion. Due to constraints with our jobs and kids, our only window to go is about a week prior to Thanksgiving. I have read good things about visiting this time of year, but I realize the temps and conditions will be out of the ordinary compared to the standard Zion trip.
We are planning to fly into Vegas early enough to drive there, spend three full days, then return to Vegas for a day. We plan to stay at the Desert Pearl.
I am hoping we have some time to drive through Bryce, but from what I gather it will likely be too cold to do much exploration. Hence, my first question: is Bryce worth it to mostly just drive through?
We live in Florida so we do not have much cold weather clothing beyond the normal mid-layer fleeces. We have no cold weather bottoms besides jeans. I would greatly appreciate some clothing recommendations for this time of year. Also, we plan to hike part of The Narrows with gear from a local outfitter.
Lastly, the rental car. Will we need a 4x4 for this time of year?
If anyone has suggestions at all for Floridians that have never hiked out west, I am all ears.
