Older or elderly folks, or those who've gone with them, can you help decide about cruises?

Not a throwaway really just not my cats-and-stuff account because privacy.

I want to take my 80 year old mom on a fancy trip next fall and she's interested in a cruise, a specific 10 day one but no other. She's always been very frugal so this is a once in a lifetime. Ive got about $10,000 so far, and I think might be able to save/borrow to have almost twice that by then.

I have two big questions about rooms.

Is a more expensive room worth it (compared to being able to have a fancier time on the day trips, better luggage etc)?

And since you book a year ahead, how to you take aging into account?

Right now, she's super sharp, healthy, no arthritis, can walk at least half a day sight seeing in a city without being tired and lift a 35lb suitcase out of the car with ease. Just got back from a little trip and she was amazing. She does maneuver cautiously out of the bath, and does not like showers, and she has some glaucoma. Her dr says she is doing great but wont predict the future of course. For 80 year old travelers, is it better to plan for worse mobility? I don't want to ask for a disabled room if we can manage a regular one or if there would be a lot of people that would need an accessible room more.

I've never been on a cruise and for the one she wants the smallest room is about $5000 each, 200 sq ft). The bigger room is only 350 sq ft, including a little veranda and separate shower/bathtub rather than a combo, and is about $3000 each more. So I'm looking at tiny and slightly less tiny rooms. If the diagrams are accurate they are both full of an excessive amount of furniture. The diagram for the wheelchair one looks like it has somewhat less furniture but even so I don't see how you could even turn around in there in one fwiw

Anyway I don't know which to book. Is the larger one $6000 worth of extra comfort for a long cruise? Do the shower/bath combos feel bigger or smaller than separate shower/baths? Are verandas nice to have or superfluous? In addition to her not feeling it's full of tripping hazards and like being trapped in an airplane toilet, I'm an introvert and have no idea if the only escape space is your room.

Tl;dr bananas amounts of money regardless, I want it to be a lovely dream trip but not be stupid and then wish I'd put the money towards some other aspect of it
