Looking for solo travel ideas for 5 days in October
Hello!
I am a 25 year old woman currently residing in NYC. I very recently went through some grief & heartbreak (my SO suddenly fell out of love with me) and I already have days taken off for a vacation we planned together. Now that I am not going on this trip- I figure it’s the perfect opportunity for some solo travel.
Length- I could leave later in the day October 6th, but I need to be back at work in NYC 10/12 morning. So I have about 5 total days.
Budget: I’m aiming to keep things below $500 or so, if possible. But I am flex as I really need this trip.
Climate: Anything not extreme- sun is very important to me. As long as I have the sun :)
Interests: Hiking, walking/exploring, generally being in nature. I’m also interested trying to meet people as I will be alone. I am trying to get more in touch with my spiritual side - some friends recommended yoga retreats or Silent Meditation Retreats but those can be very pricey.
Safety: This is really important (with the whole solo thing)
I’ve been up & down the east coast of the the US, Mexico, France, Italy, Germany, Amsterdam & all around California. But I only recently started traveling ~1.5 years ago.
I’m very open to staying within the U.S as I haven’t explored any part of the Southwest, or Pacific Northwest really (Oregon/Washington). I was thinking of checking out Portland OR for some hiking, Burlington VT & Austin TX. I’ve done some research on hikes in these areas and AirBnbs, but I’m nervous that I’m going ‘in blind’ so to speak and may feel overwhelmed without some opinions and guidance. Any tips or ideas would be so very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
