Looking for the shortest, 'best' route from Cusco to Ica / Huacachina.

Currently planning on spending some time in Peru and Easter Island, but I'm having quite a bit of trouble with the logistics coming out of the Cusco "leg" of the trip.

We'd like to get to Huacachina from Cusco and would rather not take a 20+ hour bus to do so. Currently we're looking at a plane ride from Cusco to Lima, and then a bus to Huacachina (1 day/night stay), but I can't figure out the best way or which company to use to go about it.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
