Is New Years Eve worth staying in Southeast Asia for longer?
This subreddit has been very helpful for finding great information thus far, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find an answer to this question:
Is it worth it to stay in Southeast Asia for New Years Eve?
I'm planning a ~4/5 week solo trip to Southeast Asia currently. I'm a 23 soon to be 24 year old male. I'm an American traveling from Florida, and it looks like December is the best time for me to go. From what I understand, a round-trip in and out of Bangkok is my best option, so Bangkok seems like the logical choice for NYE celebrations.
Of course, this is one of the most expensive and busy times to travel, so what I'm really curious about is, is NYE in Bangkok (or any other area in Southeast asia) worth extending my trip for? Do you think it will be a memory or story I'll have for years to come, or is it relatively the same as celebrations elsewhere?
My alternatives would be coming straight back to Florida, or breaking my trip back into 2 legs and stopping in California to explore for 2-3 days instead.
For what it's worth, New Years Eve is my favorite holiday since it's a drama free fun-focused holiday celebrated by every corner of the world.
Thank you!
