How would laptop travel ban affect my trip to USA from Bahrain?
I am an international college student in USA as a returning Junior from the annual summer break. I decided to spend my months off in Bahrain with family and friends when I read the news about the TSA Laptop (or anything bigger than a phone) Ban.
Now hear me out, I've read and re-read the details about the specific countries that would be affected due to the ban and Bahrain is not in the list. But I've also read that airlines like the one I will be flying with (Turkish Airlines) and other middle-eastern flights will be heavily affected. I will be transitting from Turkey and landing in New York. So what makes me confused is that my final destination is USA but I'm flying via an airline that's affected by the ban but my country does not lie in the list. This is the bloomberg article that I read for a quick information about my issue. I also traveled with my brother, who had to leave to the States earlier, and his travel route was exactly the same but he put his laptop in his luggage just in case.
So as the title suggests, would I really be affected by the travel ban and would have to keep my laptop in my luggage or would I be free to carry it in my backpack? As a college student, please note that I would have a lot of food and spices and things other than clothes which would probably be a "?" if placed in my carry-on bag.
P.S. my laptop is an ASUS ROG-G551JW while my brother had a good ol' MacBook Pro
Edit: I also just read the article from the FAQ about the issue but it mention that the electronics ban was lifted and also this Verge article but I still am feeling iffy about this situation.
