Heads up for buying SIM card in Thailand

Hi guys, just a quick heads up so people don't make the same mistakes I did. When you travel Thailand for any extended time, you really want to get a local SIM card. I strongly advise to get this the instant you arrive at the airport (most probably Suvarnabhumi). All three major operators have booths there. When I arrived in Bangkok after a 24 hour flight, all I wanted to do is go to bed, so I skipped getting SIM card, which was a bad decision. Buying a SIM card in Bangkok is a pain in the ass. You can buy only TrueMove SIMs at 7-Eleven, so you're forced to go with that. On top of that, I know all about Thai TukTuk scams, but I wouldnt have thought that 7-Eleven scams you. Well, they do - they sell data packages for close to triple the price you pay at an official TrueMove store. I found this out by actually going into a TrueMove store. And even if you find an honest 7-Eleven employee, communicating about the intricacies of the package you're buying is impossible because they do not speak even the most basic English. You are able to buy a water bottle by pointing at it, but try asking about data caps and LTE speed limits using gestures only.

In short: save yourself a lot of pain and money by buying a SIM card at the airport.
