For those with multiple phones, how do you manage your devices?

I've been traveling more and more back and forth between the US (home) and Asia for work, and I have begun considering buying a second phone to use while I am over there. I am wondering for those of you who also travel a lot whether for work or pleasure and have multiple devices, how do you manage them? For example chat apps like Line, Whatsapp, and Wechat only allow one account per device. Do you have separate accounts? Do you also keep both devices always on hand? Tether one to the other so you can communicate back home? Or do you not bother separating contacts on each phone?

Maybe I'm just overthinking things way too much. I am just hoping for some insight and tips.
