Albania or Croatia
My wife and I are spending 3-4 weeks next summer in the Balkans, particularly Montenegro. Normally, we're on the move a ton, but for this trip, we're aiming to settle onto the coast in Montenegro and take appropriate day trips, some time up in the mountains of Montenegro and doing some serious hikes, and then...we're open. As of right now, we're trying to decide between going up to Croatia or heading south through Albania. We're both big outdoors people, but also are interested in architecture, the arts, food both fancy and common, and the usual stuff of day trips; we're in our 40s and 50s, so partying and nightlife tends to be of less importance. Also, we'll go to some touristy places if it's great, but we're happier in less crowds if possible
Any folks who know this region have opinions? The wife is really attached to at least half the time in Montenegro, so we'd like to factor that in as well.
