4 nights to kill between Venice & Valmorel (France) - ideas?
We are a family with 2 adults, a teenager and a baby over the New Years period.
My first idea was to catch the Bernina Express from Tirano to Chur then travel through to Geneva from there, but to get to Tirano from Venice it will waste one day (it seems like the only way is to go through Milan by train). I am not sure where to go in Switzerland after Chur either or how we should travel - e.g. rent a car, by train.
I thought about flying from Venice to somewhere - e.g. Zurich/Bern or somewhere in the south of France. My #1 concern is to not over-exert ourselves with the little one, I would prefer not to stay overnight in more than 2 places.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, particularly if someone knows how to get to Tirano from Venice quickly (and not overly expensively). Otherwise perhaps suggestions on one or two places to base ourselves in Switzerland or if you think we should forget Switzerland and go to France instead!
