Norway Trip Planning Help

Hello. My wife and I are planning a trip to Norway in July 2018 for 10 days. We plan on renting a car and are trying to plan a road trip to see the beautiful scenary. I love photography so I'll be up early, and out at sunset and beyond. I have done a little research, but thought it would be a good idea to get some help from this community. Please let me know your suggestions! Any tips are highly recommended and greatly appreciated. I have not done any research yet in regards to where to stay in these areas. I have never travelled internationally either, so tips are more than welcome in that area too!

  6. Do you think Bergen makes sense for this length of a trip? Where would you choose and why?

Start of Road Trip - TRIP A

  • Fly from Boston, MA to Bergen, Norway
    • rent a car and start driving
  • Drive from Bergen to Lysefjord (6 hours south)

Second Leg of Road Trip - TRIP B

  • Drive from Lysefjord to Låtefossen Waterfall area (3 hours 30 min north)
  • Then from Låtefossen to Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall area (1 hour 53 min north)
  • Finally (long day) drive from Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall to Sognefjorden area (3h 30 min north)
    • Stay here for a night or two...still trying to figure out this part of what to do specifically

Third Leg of Road Trip - TRIP C

  • Drive from Sognefjorden to Trollstigen - troll ladder road (6h 15 min north)
    • Sleep somewhere in this area for a night or two
  • check out Gudbrandsjuvet, and Geirangerfjord before heading back to Bergen?

Last Leg of Road Trip - TRIP D

  • Drive from Geirangerfjord area back to Bergen (6h 15min south)
    • Stay here for the remaining 2-3 nights
  • Look at Fjord Views, and maybe some tours?
    • island hopping tour, glacier tour or a harbour tour?
