Where should I go in Australia and what are the top things to see?
I'm travelling solo to New Zealand and Australia for 6 weeks starting in September and am super excited! I pretty much have my route planned out in NZ (planning to spend about 3.5 weeks touring both the North and South islands doing a hop on hop off bus on the North and an organized tour on the South). However I haven't planned Australia at all except for my departure from Sydney back to Toronto. So I have 2.5 weeks to do Aus. I don't want to try to stretch myself and see the whole country, but would rather focus on a few places and then maybe come back one to do the rest. I'm leaning towards going to Brisbane and Sydney, but am undecided if I want to fit somewhere else in there too. Maybe Melbourne or Cairns? I would love to see the Great Barrier Reef, but also hear the tours of it are very expensive. What sort of route would make sense for my timeline? Are there any other places to consider? What are the top things to see? (Tips for the NZ North island also appreciated since my tour is only of the South island). I'm a 25 year old female, by the way. Thanks!
