[Question] Tropical vacation next year, need help.
I'm looking to take my girlfriend on a tropical vacation for our anniversary next Summer, June, July, or August.
I live in Seattle, and would like to go somewhere fairly far away.
So far I've looked at the Bahamas and Bort Lauderdale, and both have a lot of pro's, but multiple cons as well.
Bahamas. (Chartering a boat for a week.)
PROS | CONS |
---|---|
Charter boat. | Need captain. |
New port each night. | Need to have everything planned out first. |
SCUBA / snorkeling | Expensive ($6,000-$11,000/week.) |
kayaking / swimming | |
Full trip on water. |
Florida. (Land based.)
PROS | CONS |
---|---|
SKYDIVING | Tourists everywhere (year round) |
HOT AIR BALLONS | Supposedly not that clean of state. |
SCUBA / Snorkeling | Getting anywhere will be a real |
Kayaking / swimming | pain in the butt due to traffic. |
Easy deep sea fishing. |
I'm looking to spend 7 days / 6 nights somewhere tropical.
Our dream activity list would be, in no particular order ...
-
SCUBA / snorkeling. (Interacting with aquatic animals, sharks are top priority, then turtles, dolphins, whales, octopuses, etc ...)
-
Kayaking / wind surfing.
-
Fishing (Activity for me.)
-
White water rafting.
-
Hiking.
-
Attending culturally interesting and historic events, even if they are "fake".
-
Able to spend a LOT of time on the water, especially if we could charter a boat with captain. (Charters seem to run $5,750-$11,000 with captain, but have the capacity for 3-4 couples. We don't have quite enough people to divide the cost, so unfortunately these are out of our reach.)
-
Skydiving. (Myself.)
-
Ziplining.
-
Able to have some privacy. (We don't want to be surrounded by other tourists 24/7, and would like a relatively quite place.)
For the two of us, I'd like to spend $5,000-$6,000. If we could divide costs with one other couple, $4,000-$5,000 would be ideal.
Does anyone have some suggestions of where we might be able to go?
