Planning to take parents on a roadtrip to Montreal and Quebec City from NYC.
For the first time in 12 years, my parents wanted to go on a vacation and during Labor day weekend they really want to go up to Montreal and Quebec city. Currently, we plan to drive up Saturday evening after they close the stores and go to Montreal first or go all the way to Quebec city and come down from there. This will be a very quick trip where we come back Monday evening. I am trying to plan out the places to visit for them and they aren't sure what they want to see other than Notre Dame Basilica and St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. However they did tell me their preference
1) Sight seeing
2) Old architecture
3) historical monument/buildings/museums
4) no clubs, but casual bar is okay
5) nothing too physical (ex: mountain trail)
Few Places I thought would be good
1) Place d'Armes
2) Montreal Clock Tower
3) The Citadel
4) Observatoire de la capitale
5) AML Cruises on St-Lawrence river
6) Montmorency Falls
Another thing that is important is the place to stay. They are in 60's and would like quiet place at night. One night in Quebec City and another night at Montreal. Since we will be driving, being away from city is probably okay (unless the traffic is really bad).
I know it's very broad request but if you were to choose 3-5 places to go in Montreal and Quebec City, where would you recommend for my parents? If my parents ask me what to see in NYC I'd take them to 1) Statue of Liberty, 2) WTC, 3) Empire state building, 4) Central Park, 5) MOMA/MET, 6) St. Patrick's cathedral
