Planning solo-trip to Vancouver BC early 2018. Some advice needed!
So I am planning a trip to Vancouver BC early 2018 and it looks like I will be travelling alone.
I have always wanted to go to Canada and I've been told that Vancouver is amazing, thinking of going for about 10 days maybe 12 with all the travelling.
I have looked at AirBNBs and they look decent so that is my most likely option.
Defintely want to go to a hockey game and do the stereotypical touristy stuff, e.g museums, zoos, aquariums, etc.
It is just places to go and meet people where I am a bit clueless. Would love to make friends there and have a good time not just by myself.
Anything you guys can think of?
Bit of a background on me.
*26 year old guy.
*I am quite open and friendly once in a conversation but I find starting a conversation very difficult and can be quite shy at that, that can go away a few drinks deep though.
*Can speak English and Spanish fluently.
*Do not have a driver's license currently but I might do by the time I go.
*Thinking visiting around March time.
*I keep getting told to go to a hostel which is great for meeting people, which I am open to but if I do get a hostel it would have to be a private room/private bathroom... have a thing about sharing a toilet with people I don't know. Don't know if that sort of privacy exists in a hostel.
*I am attempting to save up as much money as I can but I don't mind spending the money if it's worth it.
I have done research on this but I feel getting opinions by people who have visited or live there would help me plan this.
So any advice, stories, PSA's etc are welcome.
