A week in Florence and Rome with friends, first time plan
Hey y'all, so I have a week to spend with a friend and I'm trying to make the most of it. It starts early Sunday morning when my friend gets to Rome and she flies out midday Saturday.
My plan is tentative and I'm hoping for any advice, big or small to guide me.
Day 1: Sunday FCO 7am, travel to Cinque terre by train, estimating it will be about 4 hours. We were going to hike and maybe take the ferry around, hopefully will have a nice view to wind down with dinner and wine. Spend the night. Day 2: train ride to Florence, where we will see the duomo and uffizi gallery same day. Rest of the day will walk and explore, find someplace nice to eat for the evening. Day 3: this is where I want advice... not sure about my plan, I hear that Florence is amazing and I'll want to spend a lot of time here, so tempted to stay in florence all day and another 2nd night. However also considering going to Rome towards the end of the day. Day 4: wake up in florence and go to Rome, see Vatican City, explore and enjoy. Brother arrives to Rome Day5: see the colosseum and adjoining attractions, explore and enjoy etc Day 6: maybe see some of the more distant rome attractions, this is last full day with my girl friend, explore and enjoy. Day 7 Saturday: girl flies home, go with brother to Munich
I'm looking for advice on whether to spend more time in florence and less on Rome or vice versa. Has anybody accomplished a similar itinerary.
Really hard to judge travel times and how much to fit into a day comfortably but I'm generally trying to plan a half day of "touring" each day and the other half left to explore and entertain ourselves at our leisure. Thoughts?
