My fiance and I are headed from Toledo OH to El Paso IL (5 hours each way) to get our new puppy. We're both very excited, tbis is the longest and fuethest either of us have gone from home and I don't want it to be ruined by unpreparedness. So I figured you good people might have some tips to make it safe and memorable.

I'm a halfassed mechanic so I have that part of the trip covered, but I'm sure there's other variables I haven't thought of. Should we bring anything other than snacks and proof of insurance? How did you keep your trip fun and not stressful? We'll be leaving home with one pug and coming home with two, so no long stops where dogs can't go.
