Ontario to Alberta 2021
This year I took a road trip from Southern Ontario to Banff! I went in one big loop of Western Canada, TransCanada hwy #1 through The Icefields Parkway, and Hwy16 back towards home! We went around lake Superior instead of crossing into the United States. Most underrated part of Canada I think, and I don't think the Prairies get a fair shake either. They're pretty too. We stayed in various national and provincial parks on the way to and from.
Pukaskwa National Park in Ontario, Stephenfield Provincial Park in Manitoba, The Battlefords Provincial Park in Saskatchewan, a little Motel in Swift Current, and Water Fowl Lakes campground off the Icefields Parkway in Banff, Alberta. Our entire journey totalled about 8500 kilometres, averaged 8-12 hours a day of driving time to and from Banff, and one oil change.
I learned that I really want to live in Northern Ontario, this place is absolutely massive, and glacial lakes are super cold. Still worth the swim though. The further away from the GTA I got, the more beautiful Canada got, and the less I wanted to go back again.
