Heading back to WA Tuesdayb currently in PA. What's the best route(s) to take?
I hauled ass along I-90 from WA to PA last week. Planning on going back on Tuesday, but I'm undecided on routes, and analysis paralysis set in earlier than I expected. Here's my very long thought process so far.
As an aside, I don't care for weather, I'm travelling alone (¯_(ツ)_/¯), will stay at hotels overnight (Holiday, Hampton, or Best Western, in that order), and I don't need to be in WA anytime soon (though if any clinic along my route offers walk-in yellow fever vaccines, that'd be great). And I probably have enough money (Cali, you better not have gas prices over $4/gal, or "cheap" hotels starting at a low low rate of $200/night).
I thought of driving along the middle states (WV, KY, MO, KS, CO, UT, NV) to visit a friend in Denver, but that seems like a really mind-numbing drive, so they'll have to wait another year or two. Driving across Kansas? Fuck that.
Now I'm thinking of continuing east to NYC, then south to Philly, DC, Atlanta, and New Orleans, then west to CA. But then I miss out on some bomb southern food from Tennessee.
Or I can go straight south to Charlotte, NC, then I-40 to Nashville, TN, then drop down to Birmingham (miss Memphis?), New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio (why?), Tucson (is there anything between San Antonio and Tucson...), San Diego, then marry I-5 and grow old with her heading north.
I have 2 days to decide on a route and reserve hotels, and so far it's going great! HELP!
