Advice for last minute Thanksgiving road trip?
My job is having everyone on my project take the week off and I was hoping to capitalize on this time off with my boyfriend to go on a trip somewhere between Friday 11/19 to Wednesday 11/24.
Flights are expensive (and I'm worried of holiday cancelled flights) so I was hoping to do a road trip leaving from the White Plains NY area. I would really appreciate guidance as I haven't planned a road trip before.
Desires: - Nature hiking, preferably nice scenery - Preferably no or little snow - Relaxing atmosphere (quaint village over big town, or being in the mountains) - A little romantic if possible
Places I've already been to and don't want to go to: - Salem MA - Plymouth MA - Providence RI - Anywhere in CT or NJ - Richmond VA
Places I'm considering: - Newport RI (seems rainy though) - Arcadia National Park (too cold?) - Smoky Mts TN (worries the 10 HR drive isn't worth it)
Budget: $1-2k? Hoping to stay in ok hotels but not motels. Want a nice restaurant or 2, maybe golfing once?
Thank you everyone :)
