Temperature check on health and safety on a cross-country road trip?
We’ll be setting out very shortly on a cross-country road trip from the west coast to the east coast. This is largely out of necessity and not leisure, as we’re moving and there’s not really any other way to transport our dog, but we’ve done this before and enjoy the experience, so that’s good.
Timing is not ideal however, with COVID-19 still being a presence. We’re not really personally concerned about infection itself as much as we’re worried about how we may be received in some places if we wear face masks. I’ve heard a few horror stories of people getting harassed, assaulted, or even having a gun pulled on them, all for the audacity of wearing a medical facial covering in public. No doubt these stories are exceptional and rare, but it’s still a bit concerning given that we’re not going to be able to avoid spending time in places where these sort of things allegedly happen.
Now, I don’t really care about getting weird looks or snide comments, I just hope I don’t need to expect longer confrontations or worse for wearing a face mask in public.
Does anyone have any recent experiences or relevant thoughts about this issue?
