Sketchy Road Trip Across the US
I have to move across the country soon, and I have a few constraints that I have to follow:
1. I have to make it from the southern US to California in less than 5 days. (I'm used to driving as my family is mostly long haul truck drivers and I've accompanied them a lot in my youth.)
2. I can't afford to get a hotel room along the way.
3. I have to be toting a few high-value items with me as I go.
What can I do to best prepare to sleep in my car, with valuable items inside?
I know that there used to be apps for finding overnight friendly parking. Are they still relevant?
Are there any major areas to avoid?
Is there anything that someone with experience can point out that someone would miss their first time out solo in a car?
If I've missed any big points I'd love it if you would chime in.
Thanks!
