I'll be visiting San Francisco for the first time, arriving on October 20th. I fly out of LAX on November 1st and would love to check out California, especially Big Sur en route to Los Angeles. Am wondering if someone here is traveling from the Bay Area to SoCal and might be keen to go the slow route? Maybe October 25-28 or something like that, camping at a beach / state park along the way? Either in your car (I don't have a license, but will pay for all the gas!), splitting a rental or even hitchhiking the Pacific Coast Highway together.

About me: British, male, 40 going on 30 (sigh), career in human rights advocacy but have since swapped London life for a serene beach in Mexico.
