Do you think my 2004 Honda Accord with 109k miles can survive a 338 mile trip twice?
I'm debating whether to fly down from the Bay Area to the LA area and back up (already got cheap tickets but I can refund it as credit for a year), or to use my car instead. Benefit to the car is that I won't need expensive uber fees since a car is needed for pretty much anything in LA (I'm going to a 2-day music festival).
Problem is my car is old and has high miles, and my parents tell me that it won't survive the 6+ hour trip (even longer with terrible traffic on the I-5). The car doesn't have any glaring issues I believe, it passed smog tests and such, has some old scrapes on paint but no internal damage.
What do you think? Is taking my car (paying for gas on the way down and up, the long drive) worth the savings in transportation costs at LA versus flying down? Would my car be at serious risk of not making it both ways?
