Cross Country Roadtrip Recommendations Boston to San Francisco
I'm planning a one-way trip driving cross country from Boston, MA to the SF Bay Area, CA late next week (end of Oct) spanning the course of 10 days.
I've never done something like this before and would really appreciate any route recommendations and must do/see things along the way. I won't be doing any camping out or rv'ing - instead relying on hotels and/or Airbnbs. I'm hoping to be able to experience a mix of great scenery, national parks, museums, landmarks, historical sites, and any interesting seasonal attractions. I'm having a difficult time thinking if I should take a northern or southern route since there's things I'd love to see in both parts, but don't know when (or if) I'll ever get the chance to do something like this again.
That said, I'm a little concerned about weather conditions and what closures may have for things like Glacier National Park or Yellowstone let alone road conditions. Based on historic weather conditions it seems like temps for northern states fall between 40 - 60 degrees oven the next couple weeks. However, should I expect it to be much colder and for snowfall?
Also given the short trip duration, I know there's going to be stress racing to finish this trip within my timeframe (hopefully it doesn't have to be too rushed) but what would you guys recommend in terms of how many destinations I can fit in and how much time should I realistically budget for each attraction?
