First time trip from San Diego to Seminole, OK in a Tesla M3
Hey folks- I’m no stranger to driving, being around 40 years old— but this is my first time driving across the country. I’ll be doing it solo in my Tesla Model 3 LR, using free supercharging along the way. The longest I’ve driven ever is probably 10 hours in one day to get to Lake Tahoe. So this will be new to me!
I could follow Apple Maps or Google or Waze… but I know there may be better ways to route this trip.
I am leaving from San Diego, and want to make sure I hit up Peoria, AZ and Kingman, AZ as I have family there- but other than that I’m open to any route suggestions. I’d like to maybe hit some points of interest along the way (the kind you don’t need huge planning for). I’m a sucker for roadside attractions and bought the RoadsideAmerica app to find these things. But I’d love to hear any other ideas or places I should definitely route through.
I’m curious about general tips and tricks for a road trip like this- and how long realistically I can drive each day. Do I try and plan ahead and get hotels at certain stops? Or just see where I wind up? That sort of thing.
Is there a better time of year for this trip? I want to make the drive sometime before the end of this year- my dad is in OK and isn’t in the greatest of health- and it’s not like urgent but I should see him sooner than later.
I’m just open to any advice that can be offered here. I really truly appreciate it.
