Michigan to Oregon (and back) in 14 days
I am driving from Michigan to Oregon to visit the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, leaving on Saturday August 28th. I have two weeks to complete the roundtrip to OR and back. My question to you is what other museums or places can you think of that I should visit? I provided three lists below but I want to hear what this subreddit believes should be on this list. While the below is aviation centric, I am open to any and all suggestions. I am also open to the idea of scenic routes that don't require freeway driving, especially on the way back from OR to MI.
Definitely Visiting
- Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum (NE)
- Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum (OR)
- Wings Over The Rockies (CO)
- Hill Aerospace Museum (UT)
- South Dakota Air and Space Museum (SD)
Maybe Visiting
- Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum (CO)
- Dakota Territory Air Museum (ND)
- Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum (OR)
- Mid-America Air Museum (KS)
- Combat Air Museum (KS)
Already Been (Major ones)
- Smithonian National Air and Space Museum (DC)
- Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (VA)
- National Museum of the United States Air Force (OH)
- Air Zoo (MI)
- The Museum of Flight (WA)
- Boeing Factory Tour (WA)
In Future
- Pima Air & Space Museum (AZ)
- AMARG “Boneyard” Tour (AZ)
A couple things to note
- I have never been west of Wisconsin in a driving sense, so I want to experience the west and it's natural beauty.
- I am really into planes, trains, and automobiles but natural beauty cannot be beaten.
- I plan to cut across the middle of the country on the way there and take a northern route back home.
