For the most part, I try to avoid chain restaurants but on the road it was always a challenge. Especially traveling with a family trying to get everyone to agree on a place to eat between when we saw the signs and the exit. Because of that, I wrote an app which figures out your direction of travel on an interstate and checks out yelp for all the upcoming exits. I have found it useful, and it is a free app, and thought some of you road trippers might have the same need:
