Should I be worried about traveling with a camp stove, aerosols in car during the summer?
Planning a two-month roadtrip through the West this summer geared around camping, bikepacking, and hiking. We'll have a "home base" during the week, but over weekends we'll be storing our gear in our car.
Are there any specific precautions you've taken to keep gas/butane containers and aerosols from heating up to dangerous levels? Our camp fuel specifically warns against temps over 120 – not too hard to imagine this on a scorching day. We'll also be carrying pressurized bear spray canisters, insect repellent, etc
Aside from parking in shade, putting up a windowscreen, cracking the windows and keeping these sensitive items packed in a dark storage container should we be taking extra precautions? Would you recommend storing them outside of the vehicle or even in a cooler?
