The Ultimate Western US road trip: bless me with your advice :)
Hey everyone!! 👋🏻
So as an international student who’s spending his last summer here in the US, I found out that I didn’t get the chance to see anything or travel anywhere within the country in the past Summers, while it is actually the best time to do it! (At least to me, haha). That was because I always had to take summer classes, work, or go back home (especially with COVID). However, this time is different.
I planned this itinerary (in the pic’s link) to visit as many dream NPs that I have as possible. With staying at big cities in-between to rest and have some good food. They are gonna be across 6 states. I’m outlining the highlights of each of them:
WY: Grand Teton & Yellowstone NPs
MT: Helena & Glacier NP
WA: all 3 NPs & Seattle
OR: Silver Falls, Crater lake NP & Portland
CA: here comes the tedious part. This place has A LOT of national parks and I want to go to all of them beside other places. I really wanna go to Red Woods, Sequoia, Death Valley, Yosemite, and Joshua Tree NPs + Lake Tahoe & Big Sur. So I might drop the other ones (Lassen Volcanic, Channel Islands, Pinnacles, & King Canyon). Any thoughts on that? (I also wanna go to SF, Malibu & SD).
Arizona: Phoenix, Tempe and Tuscan. + Saguaro & Petrified Forest NPs.
I’d be much appreciating if people did something similar or who live anywhere there could help me with their experiences regarding adding/removing places from the plan & some other pro tips. I know I’m focusing on destinations rather than scenic drives so could that be fixed somehow or should I just keep it the way it is?
Also, is there a places where I would be needing a 4WD? My car is Nissan Sentra so I should be careful with that lol
Thank you everyone in advance for your help!!
