Road trip from san francisco to anchorage - twice, in september/october?
i have a situation. I am moving to anchorage in mid August. i have 2 vehicles. i don't want to sell them. shipping them costs too much. i don't have any friends to help drive one of them.
so.. the only option left is road trip, twice, back to back so i don't get caught in the snow.
please let me know if this sounds crazy or there are other better ways.
on the first drive i will take my time and will probably spend 2-3 weeks to get to anchorage. i plan to spend some time in banff as well. i have been to big cities in OR & WA so hopefully i could pick a more scenic drive through state and national parks.
on the second drive it will be a race against snow. when does AB, BC, YK, and AK start snowing? i have some experience driving in snow.. a decade ago.
Maybe i could tow one of them and just drive once. the larger vehicle is a cargo van so can definitely tow but i have never towed before. is it realistic to tow? are there any scenes/parks i should visit on the way, where it would be difficult to tow (like gravel or windy roads)? i definitely have to go to banff, how difficult is it to tow in that park?
i also need reliable wifi to work, any suggestion? i have an old phone no 5g, t mobile.
have you driven any of that stretch before? please share your experience, thank you
