Permits?
Hey all,
My gf and I are planning a cross country road trip from San Diego - NJ. We plan on spending 90% of the time out west. Without going into too much detail, our route is more or less going to be going up the west coast, then back down (more inland), vegas, grand canyon, arizona, new mexico, texas, louisana, then cutting up north to NJ. We plan on camping as much as possible. I know this time of year will be busy, and we intend to do dispersed camping. We have a national parks pass for access, and just got a CA fire permit. My question to you guys is, are there any permits we should obtain before going? We are a little concerned about getting in trouble for dispersed camping. From what I can tell, BLM allows dispersed camping (without permits) and we are planning on taking advantage of that. I just want to make sure that in the event we are approached by rangers or police, we are prepared and won't get in any trouble. Additionally, do other states require a fire permit, or is it just CA? Thanks for any help or tips. We plan on using freecampsites.net to help us find camping sites that are legal. I just don't want any fines or fees... thanks for any help.
