Our dream US Road Trip beginning to become a reality.
Hi happy people, we are a young family in Ireland and are planning on our kids across to travel around the states for the summer in 2023 during the summer holidays. We will have 9 weeks in total. It’s very early still but I got the verbal ok from work and that was the biggest hurdle.
The next biggest hurdle is planning what to see in 9 months, literally a continent full of options. We are going to hire a camper van and intend of spending 75% of the time camping. Flying to Salt Lake City to start as we want to see Utah, then ending in Orlando so we can finish off with a week at Disney. Kids will be 8 and 6. Our rough plan is UT, CO, NM, TX, LA, MS, TN, GA, SC and back down to FL.
This is no means set in stone and 10 states in 9 weeks is going to be tight so likely will have to cut down but would love to know any advice on our trip, must see places on the route that we might not find on mainstream channels etc. We love off the beaten track, outdoors but will break up the trip with a couple of nights each week in a hotel/motel in a city or town to do some site seeing and get showered.
