My plan so far for a first time 7 week solo road trip, What am I missing?
I like to over plan and be proactive, not reactive. Posting this for discussion, advice, insight.
I am planning on staying (and showering) at rest stops like loves and flying J's (not sure of others) and sleeping at free/public/paid sometimes campgrounds. I have a honda pilot and plan on using my Klymit V insulated inflatable sleeping pad but will experiment with an inflatable mattress/sleeping platform. I am also planning on hiking 70% of the time.
- a zoleo satellite communicator
- more than one road map atlas
- I have premium Spotify, Roadtrippers and Alltrails, downloaded some movies and such
- I downloaded offline google maps for multiple areas
- I have a dedicated GPS
- Spare tire (not a donut) and tools
- spare coolant and oil
- The car is getting a check before I go, checking the battery of course.
- might get an inverter to charge my laptop.
- I have a portable battery to jump the car
- Spare headlight bulb and fuses
- I marked free camp grounds and truck stops on road atlas
- Good first aid kit with tons of medicine like Benadryl, allergy meds, tums, Tylenol, bug bite relief.
- sunscreen+bug spray+sunglasses
- I have a portable stove
- Might get a window screen thing for air flow at night if sleeping in car.
- I have a thule sidekick for extra cargo space up top.
- bought a national parks pass
- will notify my credit card+bank
- will check out covid restrictions
- something to keep dirty laundry in
- a cooler capable of keeping food below 40 for about 4 days.
- Storage bins for organization
- lumbar and seat cushion
- extra battery banks and chargers
I know I covered a lot but this is part of the fun!
I am leaving from the Philadelphia area and going to South Dakota badlands>Yellowstone>zion>grand canyon> majority in colorado and then back.
