First road trip (solo)--parents scared as shit

So, I'm a 22 year old woman and I'm planning my first roadtrip, about 1,171 miles from the Northeast to the Midwest (don't want to give too many specifics sorry). I'd be going alone, spending a couple weeks there, then driving back. I'm planning to split the drive over about 2 days, with 1-3 tourist breaks each day to see the sights/stretch my legs/have a driving break/eat/etc.

The problem is that my parents are really, really concerned. Like wish-they-could-forbid-it concerned. How have you dealt with this problem before? What are some things I could do to make it safer?

I've been haunting this subreddit and all kinds of blogs, so I've read a lot of safety advice. The double-lock gadgets for hotels/motels, podcasts or music + cruise control to help with potential driving boredom. Regular check-ins with them and/or with friends to make sure everyone knows I'm safe (and, if something does happen to go wrong, they know sooner rather than later). I know how to change a tire.

My car is less than half-way through its expected mileage-lifespan (whatever you call it) and has never needed any big repairs. I'd take it in for a check/tune up anyway, of course. I've heard of packing a real spare tire instead of the dinky ones that come in case of a flat.

I've got some history that makes it harder for me to figure out if I'm being unreasonable for pushing for this roadtrip or not. I am considering changing the date so I can have a friend with me, but honestly there's no guarantee that would solve the problem for my parents.

Any advice is appreciated.

Tldr woman, first road trip, alone, parents scared as shit--advice?
