Route suggestions to souix falls
I’m planning a trip from southern New Hampshire to Souix Falls in the beginning of May, moving there for work. I’m going with a friend to split driving with and explore some spots together. We plan on either stopping in Syracuse New York to visit another friend, or taking a bit of a detour and seeing Niagara Falls before going on to Cleveland Ohio for the first day. From there we are debating going up through Chicago then to Wisconsin/Minnesota or through Iowa to South Dakota to avoid the city. Neither of us have been to Chicago, so it might be fun to see for an afternoon. However, I have been to rural Illinois and Iowa before so I’m a little hesitant of wanting to drive that route (just because, I hate to say it, but how boring it looks, although that may have just been where I was). We want to stop somewhere after around 10 hours of driving and make it to Souix Falls on the third day. We aren’t on a super tight schedule so we definitely want to see some sights especially in whatever city we stay in for the night. If anyone has any input on the Chicago or Iowa route that would be awesome and if you know of any good spots to see along the way that would be really helpful as this is my first multi day road trip!
