Planning my first big road trip and would like advice on preparation and places to see!
Hullo! I’m planning a road trip across the US after spending years tied down to a job that caused me to be somewhat locked down. I love the mountains, nature, sights, fishing, and just seeing new things and people.
I live in eastern North Carolina, so that’ll be my starting point. Of course this is still a super early idea/plan so I haven’t put a ton of thought into it, but I’d like the end point to be Yosemite National Park and then going up to Yellowstone, almost making a giant circle. I’ve looked up all the basic directions and understand this is a ton of driving. This is a multiple week kind of thing. I have a fairly decent midsize suv for the trip, and was hoping to camp out in it for the better part of the nights.
My biggest questions are these:
What are some preparations or items that’ll be helpful/vital for this trip?
Are there any must see areas that’ll be around these destinations? The furthest I’ve been outside of my state is mostly within an hour or so of the NC border so I’ve not been many places, but I’ve done tons of long distance driving in the NC mountains.
I know my questions and thoughts are broad and not well thought out, but any advice or help is greatly appreciated!!
Thank you very much for your time and have a wonderful day!!
