Moving from DC to Los Angeles!
Hi friends! I am moving from Washington DC to Los Angeles in late May/early June (pretty flexible on dates) and am hoping to make a nice road trip out of it. I'm planning to give myself about two weeks for the trip – give or take a few days – and will be driving a Jetta.
I am realistically not expecting to camp or do any intense hiking because I'll be accompanied by my three-legged dog during the trip, and potentially also my 66 year old dad. I may hire a dog sitter in Denver to go on a day hike on the Rockies if I have the opportunity, but that's probably it. So I am planning on staying at suburban hotels or with friends where possible during my stops.
I made two tentative road maps, both of which go through Nashville (sounds like a cool place), and Denver (I really want to visit Denver). I do plan to spend a night somewhere between DC and Nashville (probably Charleston, WV). I am also hoping to spend at least a night in Kansas City as I have good friends from there. So I'm mostly unsure as to which route to take between Denver and Los Angeles, and was wondering if any of you had any suggestions or insights given that I won't be able to go deep into National Parks due to my doggo.
Route 1 would be Denver – Salt Lake City – Vegas – Los Angeles.
Route 2 would be Denver – Albuquerque – Flagstaff – Phoenix – Los Angeles.
