Long term road trip advice?
We road trip a lot as a family and have been looking into the idea of taking a long term slow travel trip around the US for six months to a year. Has anyone done anything like this?
My hope would be to travel slow, see some family and friends, camp some, and stay in some areas as a "home base" for a few weeks at a time before moving on. Because of this, i don't want to rely on just camping or vacation rentals and hotels. It's way too expensive and camping won't always work in weather or for staying connected.Does anyone have any experience with short term rentals while traveling? (say a month in one location?) My concern is that most airbnb rates are for the average weekender, and sky high.
I have heard about farm stays/house sitting and other unique stay ideas but struggle to find much info.
Would be very grateful for any information or tips!
